FROM THE CHAIR
Rod Ellcessor
ISTA-Retired State Chair
From the Chair:
“Old soldiers never die, they just fade away” – General MacArthur. Sometimes they fade away and sometimes they come back with gusto. Sixteen years ago I served as your ISTA-Retired coordinator and lobbyist. In 2006, I returned to the UniServ field. When I retired in 2013, I began working with the Greater Indianapolis Chapter and was elected to the state council. This year I chose to run for council chair when longtime leader, Sarah Borgman, decided not to seek re-election. Not only do I want to thank council members for their trust in me, but I also want to thank Sarah for her support and leadership over the years.
ISTA-Retired has 26 chapters throughout the state. Each of these plans to provide opportunities to become involved. You should receive a letter or email from one of these chapters. If you are not a chapter member, we invite you to join. As a life member, we
have a duty to keep you informed. If we do not have your email address or your mailing address has changed, please forward this information to the Member Resource Center (askista@ista-in.org) or me (rellcessor@gmail.com).
I leave you with a quote from Robert Kennedy. “Each time a man [or woman] stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he [she] sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest wall of oppression and resistance.”
